Overview of the manufacturing process of high-precision cold drawn tubes
The manufacturing process of high-precision cold drawn tubes is a key link to ensure their high performance and high quality. The process mainly includes four main steps: raw material pretreatment, cold drawing, heat treatment and finishing inspection.
1. Raw material pretreatment
Select high-quality hot-rolled tube blanks, remove the surface oxide layer by pickling, and then apply lubricant to reduce friction during cold drawing. The tube blank also needs to be straightened to ensure that the radial runout is controlled within 0.3mm/m, which provides a good foundation for subsequent cold drawing.
2. Cold drawing forming
Cold drawing is the core link, using a multi-pass diameter reduction process, and the deformation amount in each pass is controlled at 15%-25% to avoid cracks. Mold parameters are very important. The taper angle of the working belt is usually 8°-12°, the length of the sizing belt is 3-5 times the wall thickness, and the surface roughness is controlled at Ra°0.4μm to ensure the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the pipe.
3. Heat treatment
Heat treatment is a key step to improve the mechanical properties of pipes. Using a protective atmosphere continuous annealing furnace, the annealing temperature and holding time are set according to the material to ensure that the pipe has good toughness and strength.
4. Finishing and testing
Using hydraulic servo straightening technology, the pipe straightness error is controlled within 1.5mm/m. The surface roughness is controlled at Ra≤8μm through compound lubrication process. Finished products must undergo strict dimensional, surface quality and mechanical property testing to ensure they meet high-precision standards.
The manufacturing process of high-precision cold-drawn tubes is complex and delicate. Each step directly affects the performance and quality of the product. It is widely used in high-precision fields such as automobiles and hydraulic systems.
